Foxtel clarifies its AFL broadcast in HD

21 September 2012:  Foxtel Management Pty Ltd has taken steps to improve the information provided to consumers about the picture quality and resolution of its broadcasts of AFL games on the Fox Footy and Fox Sports 1 HD channels, in a move that has been welcomed by the ACCC.

Some of these broadcasts are converted to high definition before broadcast, as opposed to being filmed by true high-definition camera. As a result, the converted picture quality is lower than the quality of those games filmed in HD.  Foxtel has amended its promotional material to clarify that all of the five weekly games produced by FOX Sports are in native HD, but the four games sourced from Channel 7 are converted before broadcast.
